Explorer 41

  1969-053A

The second polar IMP, IMP G (Interplanetary Monitoring Platform G), was launched on 1969 Jun 21 by Delta E from Vandenberg SLC2. The second stage yaw maneuver was omitted for range safety reasons and the final orbit was 378 x 176434 km x 86.8 deg instead of the planned 341 x 213867 x 83.8. Interplanetary Monitoring Platform 5 was also Explorer 41. The satellite underwent a partial failure on 1972 Oct 26 but continued transmitting until 1972 Dec 23 when it reentered.
