Skynet 5A

 2007-007B


Skynet 5 satellites will be owned and operated by private contractor Paradigm Secure Communications (Astrium/Stevenage consortium) for the MoD and NATO. Skynet 5, Sicral and Syracuse 3 are to be integrated into the NATO system.

EADS Astrium/Stevenage E3000S satellite with mass of 4700 kg launch. Mass is 4635 kg at launch, 2170 kg dry (EADS). LAE with redundant nozzles. Size 4.5 x 2.9 x 3.7m with 34m span.

Ariane flight 175 on Ariane 535, the first of the 30 PA-contract vehicles from EADS Astrium. Long pattern fairing; Skynet 5A on 1194H adapter and Sylda 5A (4.6m dia 6.4m h) Insat 4B on Saab PAS1194VS adapter.

Structure in Stevenage, final assemby and integration in Toulouse
