Wresat
1967-118A
When it was determined that a spare Redstone/SPARTA might be available, the WRE developed its own satellite for launching into orbit. The conical WRESAT remained attached to the BE-3 solid motor once in orbit. It carried a set of experiments to study the upper atmosphere and solar-terrestrial relationships.
The LA8 launch site was specially developed for SPARTA and was near the ELDO Launcher 6 on Lake Hart. Redstone no. 2029 was combined with solid upper stages to make up SPARTA vehicle 10.

Samos 10
1962-035
FTV 2404 (Program 698BJ Vehicle 4) was launched on 1962 Aug 5 by Atlas Agena B from Point Arguello with payload PVP 854. Planned orbit was 210 x 229 km x 96.0 deg, as against an actual 196 x 232 km x 96.30 deg. The Vandenberg report noted that attitude was stable and systems were normal `except for payload'. The PVP 854 camera payload failed to operate correctly, although the rear camera exposed a quantity of film. The deorbit burn was meant to be 0.49 km/s but only 0.44 km/s was attained. RV telemetry was obtained after entry blackout, but the parachute failed to deploy and the RV could not be found. It is believed that the parachutes did not deploy due to burn-through of the RV heatshield.

Vanguard TV-3
1957-F01
Vanguard TV3 was to be the US response to Sputnik. The first American orbital launch attempt, carrying a small `grapefruit' test satellite, was slated for launch on 1957 Dec 6. However, the launch vehicle exploded on the launch pad at ignition. A fire in the fuel injector head at T-2s ended up destroying the vehicle at T+0.4s. Mass was 1.8 kg.
