1967-118A
When it was determined that a spare Redstone/SPARTA might be available, the WRE developed its own satellite for launching into orbit. The conical WRESAT remained attached to the BE-3 solid motor once in orbit. It carried a set of experiments to study the upper atmosphere and solar-terrestrial relationships.
The LA8 launch site was specially developed for SPARTA and was near the ELDO Launcher 6 on Lake Hart. Redstone no. 2029 was combined with solid upper stages to make up SPARTA vehicle 10.
