JAXA Global Change Observation Mission - Water.

Will observe precipitation, vapor amounts, wind velocity above the ocean, sea water temperatures, water levels on land areas and snow depths.

NEC Toshiba Space? (NECTF??) Mass 1900 kg. Box + 2 panels + dish. 2m box, 2m atetnna, 5m high? 20m? span. Size 5.1 x 17.5 x 3.4m, 1991 kg launch, with 151 kg prop.

H-2A F21 carries a 4/4D-LC fairing with the Arirang 3 satellite in the upper position and GCOM in the lower position. SDS-4 and Horyu 2 are mounted on the lower adapter.

GCOM-1 was at Tsukuba during the earthquake but was not damaged. 700 km SSO

Followon is GCOM-C (Climate)

Launch with Arirang-3, SDS-4 and Houryu-2. The Stage 2 performs post-separation engineering experiments to study upgrades for the propellant system.

ET sep mass, 115521 kg. OMS-2 post mass, 112698.3 NC2 mass 112914 kg. Mass at NC3 was 112659 kg, NC4 112529 kg, TI 112412 kg. Cargo to ISS - 15582 kg total, 811 inside, so 14771 outside. Down: 243 kg OBSS, 820 kg inside; Up water/gas: 320 kg.

On ascent, the Left OMS secondary TVC power supply apparently failed; on orbit OMS burns were R OMS only except for deorbit.

An object was seen floating away from Discovery after the control system pre-deorbit checkout on Jun 13. It was identified as a thermal clip from the rudder area.

Inmarsat 301

The Inmarsat III series carried L-band maritime communications payloads built by Matra Marconi Space UK. Mass of the satellite was 2068 kg launch, 1100 kg BOL, 860 kg dry. It replaced Inmarsat II F-1 as the IOR satellite at 64E.
