Vanguard TV-3

Vanguard TV3 was to be the US response to Sputnik. The first American orbital launch attempt, carrying a small `grapefruit' test satellite, was slated for launch on 1957 Dec 6. However, the launch vehicle exploded on the launch pad at ignition. A fire in the fuel injector head at T-2s ended up destroying the vehicle at T+0.4s. Mass was 1.8 kg.
