Corona 107

 1966-029A

KH-4A Mission 1031 (CORONA 107) was launched on 1966 Apr 7 by TAT Agena D from Vandenberg on the 31st twin-bucket J-1 mission. The apogee was about 20 km lower than planned. Mission 1031-1 and 1031-2 lasted 7 and 4 days respectively; during the first mission the perigee latitude was around 23N while it had reached 39N by the second mission. The orbit had a nearly repeating ground track after 16 revs. NPIC commented that the advantages of multiple coverage of some targets was potentially outweighed by the fact that other targets were never overflown at all. The camera system included a new delay circuit betwee the forward and aft cameras which permitted improved stereo photography. The mission covered the USSR, the Warsaw Pact region and Vietnam, as well as targets in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Taiwan, Libya, Sudan, West Africa, and South America.
