Amazonas 1

 2004-031A

Hispasat Amazonas 1 will be at 61W, operated by the Brazilian Hispamar subsidiary, with control center in Rio de Janeiro. 4540 kg, 35-m span Astrium Eurostar 3000 satellite.

Launch with Proton-M 53507 Briz-M 88510 in Aug 2004. A problem in the oxidizer tank pressurization reduced propulsion ability and caused an insurance claim.

In 2014 Hispasat relocated the satellite to an Intelsat slot at 55.5W, and joined forces with Intelsat to use it and other colocated satellites (Galaxy 11 and IS-805) for World Cup coverage.
