Leasat 4

 1985-076D

Leasat 4 was deployed from Discovery on mission 51-I, two days before the salvage of Leasat 3. Celebration over the success of the repairs to Leasat 3 was somewhat dampened in September; although Leasat 4 reached geostationary altitude successfully, the main communications payload went dead shortly afterwards and the satellite was declared a loss. It remained at 178W until 1987, being used for various engineering tests.
