Globalstar 79

The second generation Globalstar consisted of 48 sats from Alcatel Alenia Space/Roma (payloads in Toulouse, structures in Cannes, assembly and integration in Roma). 715 kg each. Approx size Trapezoid 4 x 2 x 1m? +panels? Six sats on first launch (FM2 to 7?)

Based on the Proteus/Spacebus-L500 bus. Conical dispenser 550 kg Astrium-AELM In 2011 UN responsibility for these Globalstar satellites was transferred to France.

Fregat/Globalstar injection mass is 8200 kg at -974? x 200 x 51.7 (Vi = 7.393 km/s)

Chollian

COMS, KARI's first multi-function geosat, built by EADS Astrium using Eurostar E3000. Carries experimental comms, oceaongraphy and meteorology payloads. 2461 kg at launch. Will be at 128.3 E.

COMS is the Communications, Oceanography and Meteorology Satellite. It was named

Clairvoyance, which may be transliterated 'Cheonlian' but which the Koreans render as 'Chollian' in English.

2.6 x 1.8 x 2.8m box + 1 panel. 17.2m span. Other side from panel has radiant cooler for MI.

Launch 2009 Ariane 5 CSG.
