ITV 1

The AVCO-built Integrated Target Vehicle ITV-1 was a cylindrical canister containing a 2.0m diameter balloon which was to be used as a target satellite for the kinetic F-15 launched ASAT. ITV 1 and ITV 2 were launched on a single Scout in Dec 1985; the payload was designated AF-16 by NASA. However, tests of the ASAT were forbidden by Congress after the launch of the first pair of ITVs, and subsequent launches were cancelled. ITV 1 never deployed its balloon and reentered in 1989. The satellite was 1.1m long and 0.5m in diameter with a mass of 82 kg. The 42-inch fairing was used.

The two ITV canisters were attached to the Scout final stage in an unusual-looking side-by-side configuration.

OV1-9 was a biohazard radiation satellite. 462 kg launch, 356 kg PM and 106 kg satellite.

The OV1-9/10 launch was the first to go to a normal polar orbit rather than the westward path used by the early OV1s from the same pad.

1966-111B

OV1-10 carried gravity gradient experiments and radiation detectors. It was placed in a noon-midnight sun-synchronous orbit and deployed two 15m booms, two 9.8m booms and two 5.8m booms. The stabilization was only partly successful.

Mass was 124 kg plus a 465 kg PM. Launch was to a 101.4 deg suborbital trajectory; a PM yaw burn at equator crossing lowered inclination to 93.4 deg.
