The fourth Orbiting Solar Observatory satellite carried an improved set of experiments including an early celestial x-ray astronomy experiment. Launch was at 1558 on 1967 Oct 18 by Delta from Cape Canaveral. It reached a 95.6 min, 546 x 560 km x 33.0 deg orbit at 1610. OSO IV operated until 1972 Feb; it was reactivated in 1974. The satellite reentered on 1982 Jun 15.

The third probe to be launched in the 1962 Venus window was 2MV-2 No. 1, on 1962 Sep 12. As the 8K78 rocket reached orbit and shut down the third stage main engine, a failed LOX cutoff value caused an explosion in one of the four vernier chambers in the 8D715K engine. However, the mission continued as planned until the Blok-L main engine shut down 1s into its burn when the oxidizer pump failed.

PAIGE AND THE SEX KITTENS

Lead singer: Paige Michalchuk,18,of Beverly Hills. Outspoken,adorable,vocal as fuck. Best damn singer I know. A good friend,to boot! 

Keyboardist / pianist: Christine "Spike" Nelson,18,of Topanga Town. Spiky hair? Check. Short? Check. Sweet? Check. This chick's a triple threat to beat all other triple threats. By the way,the big reason she's on keyboard? She can't carry a tune. But don't tell her I wrote that!

Backup vocals: Tessa Campanelli,18,of Beverly Hills. She's the daughter of Nathan Campanelli,the TV producer,so she knows the biz! She's the short,pretty blondie with the prominent neck who's holding the biggest pool cue I've ever seen.

Backup vocals/bass: Terri MacGregor,19,of Agoura Hills. You know the big girl with crimped brown hair and the lightest of tans who’s always sipping a lemonade and wearing any one of a number of plus-sized purple dresses? That’s Terri. She’s a good pal and a major-league bass player,even if her fashion choices are a little on the grody side (sorry,Terri! We still love you!).

Keyboardist: Ashley Kerwin,18,of Encino. This chick has big hair and a bigger heart (readers of the July 26-August 2 issue of the Messenger will remember her as the girl who was directing glass cleanup on Zuma Beach),and it goes without saying that she’s got a surfeit of musical talent too! Ashley was Secretary of the Malibu High Class of 1985,and she took home a handful of academic awards during her time there as a student,though she’s best remembered there as Queen of the MHS 1984 Junior-Senior Prom.

Tambourine: Hazel Aden,19,of Beverly Hills. It’s my opinion that this little songbird is destined for higher things than the tambourine,given the vocals she rocked as a member of the North Hollywood High school choir (she’s class of ‘84 if you care about that sort of thing). She’s very talented in the art world too,so much so that some of her watercolors will decorate the walls of NHHS for a long time to come.

Drums: Alexa Pappadopolos,18,of Agoura Hills. Just about anyone who’s been to the Zuma Beach Klub of a Friday night knows Alexa and/or her older sister Phoebe (22), two pretty black-haired gals who love to partay heartay and are unafraid to be themselves! Alexa’s been a close personal pal of mine for over a decade now and I’m glad she’s making out like the proverbial bandit!

Manager: Stephanie Kaye,21,of Tarzana. The pretty,popular,well-dressed President of the Malibu High class of 1982 has certainly gone places since graduation,managing gigs as far afield as Monterey and Austin,and she owes it to her natural business talents and sense for what bands are rising in popularity. With her in charge of the Sex Kittens,these girls are bound to go places!
