WGS-1

WGS SV-1 was placed over the Pacific after launch on Atlas V into supersynchronous orbit. It supports US Pacific Command, possibly from 132E.

Boeing 702A satellites. Control from Schriever/Colo 3SOPS. Managment at USAF SMC (LAAFB) with payload by SMDC/ARSTRAT. Four Army Wideband Satellite Operations Centers (WSOCs).

Replaces DSCS and GBS; will be replaced by AWS (Advanced Wideband System). X-band; Ka-band intersatellite links.

(Was Wideband Gapfiller). Later WGS will have GBS Global Broadcast System, followon to payloads on UHF FO satellites.

Launch now due 2007 Jun. by Atlas V 421 S/N AV-011, a 4-meter fairing, an SEC Centaur, and two SRBs.

Launch mass 5768 kg. Size 6.0m? high 3.0?m wide with span of 46?m
