Kosmos-2089 was launched on 1990 Aug 3. On Aug 11, it made an orbital change to start making passes over the Persian Gulf to observe Kuwait and Iraq during the aftermath of the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The mission was recovered on Oct 1 after a regular 59-day stay in orbit.
