The first launch attempt came on Jun 26. SSME-2 ignited, but shut down after 2.6s, 4s before SRB ignition. The new launch attempt, on Aug 30, was successful.
An icicle formed on the supply and waste water dump nozzles. A partially successful attempt was made to knock the icicle off with the RMS, and plans were laid for a possible spacewalk to remove the remainder. Repeated heating of the area removed the remaining ice.
