The Ginga (`Galaxy') satellite, known before launch as ASTRO C, was launched in Feb 1987 by Mu 3S-II from Kagoshima. Its main instrument was the Large Area Counter (LAC), which studied the hard X-ray spectra of cosmic X-ray sources. The LAC experiment was carried out in collaboration with Leicester University. Ginga was successful in measuring the hard-X-ray spectra of a large number of quasars and active nuclei.
Mass is 420 kg; size is 1.0 x 1.0 x 1.5m with for solar arrays spanning about 4.5m.
If the M-3B is the same as for PLANET A, it is 4.68m long 1.50m dia, 3595 kg full 305 kg empty with 132 kN thrust. For this flight thrust is given as Isp 293.2s. So estimated dV is 2875 ln ( 4015 / 725 ) = 4921m/s.
