1972-027A
Recoverable Vostok-class spacecraft had been used for life sciences missions since the Voskhod program. The Interkosmos-6 satellite was the first use of a Zenit class satellite for a dedicated physics mission; the descent module carried a heavy emulsion stack instrument for detecting high energy cosmic rays. The satellite also carried a micrometeorite detector.
The true name of the spacecraft was Energiya No. 1, and its article designation was 13KS. The spacecraft was identified in the 1996 Kozlov book. Its mass was 5886 kg. 13KS was based on the Zenit-2M satellite and used the 11S512 fairing.
