Ionospheric plasma depletion measurements; measure morphology of depletions relative to geomagnetic activity. Payload on first Falcon-1 launch.
The vehicle failed when an aluminium tube in the engine melted; the part was switched to stainless steel in later vehicles.
Launch from Omelek I. 167 44E 9 3N just north of Meck. 450 x 450 km x 39.0 deg.
20 kg. 0.32m cube, inactive attitude control.
Stage 1; 16m long 1.7d Stage 2: 1.7d long 2.7m long (5.6 with engine?) Overall 27.2t.
Operation by DARPA and USAF Academy.
