Interbol-2, the Avroral'niy Zond (Auroral Probe) or Prognoz-12, was launched on 1996 Aug 29 by Molniya-M from Plesetsk. It used spacecraft SO-M2 No. 513. It was placed in a 500 x 20000 km x 65 deg orbit.
Mass of the 2BL was 902 kg dry; Interbol-2/Magion-5 was 1369 kg. (Int-2 wsa 1302 kg, S2-A Magion 68 kg). Interbol-2 carried experiments on auroral plasma, hot plasma, waves and fields, energetic particles, auroral optical emission, and technology experiments.
