HTV-1

 2009-048A

NASDA's HTV H2A Transfer Vehicle is 4.4m dia. It will fly to ISS and refurbish the JEM. After a 2 week supply mission it will be deorbited.

In Japanese the HTV is referred to as

\uni{ 宇宙ステーション補給機 }{ }
(Uchu susteshon hokyu-ki, space station supply machine).

Launch mass is 15000 kg. HTV has two sections, pressurized section with 8 resupply racks and unpressurized section with 3 EF payloads. Avionics module and Propulsion Module complete the system. PM has main engine and RCS thrusters, 4 x 500N and 28 x 110N.

Prop is MMH/MON3, total 2432 kg max load. (2400 kg carried)

MHI (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) with IHI propulsion. four 500N class (R4D or IHI?) thrusters and 28 110N class thrusters, with MMH/MON3.

First flight in 2009 is Technical Demonstration Vehicle (Gijutso jissho-ki,

\uni{ 技術実証機).}{ }

Launch by H2B, with two LE-7A main engines and 5S-H 15m fairing.

The EF pallet on the first mission has two experiments, SMILES and HICO-RAIDS.

The pressurized logistics carrier (

\uni{ 補給キャリア与圧部, }{ }
hokyu kyaria yoatsu-bu) propulsion module (
\uni{ 推進モジュール, }{ }
suishin mojuru) and unpressurized logistics carrier (
\uni{ 補給キャリア非与圧部, }{ }
hokyu kyaria hi yoatsu-bu). and adapter section (
\uni{ 軌道間輸送機部, }{ }
kido-kan yuso-ki-bu).
