Indostar (Cakrawarta-1) is a 1385 kg light GEO comsat, built by CTA Inc of McLean, Virginia. (formerly DSI, but Orbital Sciences Corp. by the time of launch) for PT MediaCitra Indostar, a subsidiary of Bimentara Citra of Jakarta, Indonesia which will use it for digital direct to home TVRO (TV Receive Only) and digital radio broadcast. It carries a hydrazine propulsion system built by Olin Corp and a Thiokol Star 30E apogee motor. The satellite uses S-band to ensure transmission through Indonesia's common heavy rain. The satellite uses a three axis stabilized StarBus bus and will be launched by Ariane 4 in Oct 1997.
Mass is 1385 kg launch, 805 kg BOL, and 643 kg dry. Bus is 2.49 x 2.03 x 3.8m with a 16.1m span. Power is 2 kW.
