The Energiya SO-1, called DC1 (Docking Compartment 1) in US documents, is similar to the 316GK SO built for Mir/Kristall but includes an airlock. It is based on the Buran and Mir-2 docking unit. It would be launched with a Progress-M PAO (11F615A55 No. 301). Mass is 3676 kg. SO is mission 4R, launched with Strela. Designation is 240GK No. 1L. Shape is sphere+cylinder? 4.05l and 2.55m dia. The SO's PAO is called CVM (Cargo Vehicle Module) in English and GKM (Gruzovoy korabl'-modul') in Russian. In Russian it is the Progress M-SO1 mission. Pic NK2000-06.53
Launch mass is 7130 kg including 875 kg of fuel. M-SO1 carries 800 kg of cargo.
SO was named Pirs ("Pier") in mid-2001.

By Sep 2001, three Orlan-M were aboard ISS. Two flew on STS-106; one arrived on Pirs. Orlan-M empty mass is 110 kg, compared to 136 kg for a SAFER-less EMU.
EVA in Jan 2005. UWP Univ Work Platform, with ROkviss payload TOol carrier with Rokviss antenna; UWP/Rokviss installed on SM Rokviss antenna mounted on MPEC-SEEDS experiment mount. then Biorisk experiment, 3 cans in unit to outside of Pirs.
On the Mar 2005 EVA-13, the Ex10 crew carreied out a WAL antenna bundle; Install GPS antenna; Deploy nanosat. WAL antenna covers and Towels to jettison, less than 0.1 kg each Connector covers reenter after about 1 month in orbit.
In 2008 Dec, EVA-21, the crew were to install a Langmuir probe on Pirs, the EXPOSE-R and IPI-SM (Impuls) experiments on Zvezda, and retrieve Biorisk-MSN container 2 from Pirs. The astronauts were also to test out a Seiko wristwatch for a promotional venture.
In Jun 2009, Orlan-M No. 26 was stored in the TMA-14 BO while a decision was made on whether to deorbit it with M-02M. Orlan-M No. 27 was to be converted into RadioSkaf-2. But in the end both suits were discarded aboard M-02M.
VKD-41. The astronauts installed handrails on Zvezda, cleaned a Zvezda window, and installed a new WAL6 antenna to replace the old one whose cover floated off on 2013 Aug 19. New retaining straps were added to the other WAL antenna covers. The old WAL-6 antenna was jettisoned into orbit as catalog 40812; two decontamination towels were also jettisoned, and were not cataloged. The Obstanovka DP-PM PVK-1 plasma wave complex was retrieved.
VKD-42. The flash drive (fleshka) was jettisoned in a bag with towels to provide drag and wrapped in a bow. It contained commemorative materials to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Russia's Victory Day (World War II).
