Luna 5

  1965-036A

E-6 No. 10 was the first E-6 probe to be inserted on the correct lunar trajectory; it was given the name Luna-5. During the mid course correction on May 10, the E-6 lost attitude and a second burn attempt failed. The E-6 lost attitude again during preparations for the retro burn and impacted 700 km from its original target.
