1962-028
DS-P1 was a 240 kg 14-sided polyhedron with 4 curved antennae. The DS-P1 No. 1 satellite carried a radiation detector payload. It was launched in Jun 1962 as Kosmos-6 and operated until September. However, it was primarily an experimental satellite for calibration of the PRO's antimissile defense system. The DS-P1 satellites were used with prototype missile defense radars to study the problems of calibration.
