Anik B1

Telesat Canada's Anik B (Telesat D to NASA) satellite was a hybrid (C and Ku band) comsat, using RCA's Satcom bus. It began operations in Feb 1979, with the Ku-band transponders leased to the Dept. of Communications for two years for a variety of experimental projects. Commercial use at Ku-band began in Sep 1980. Anik B was stationed at 109W.
