STSS-1/2

 2009-052A

STSS DEMO mission.

NGAS Space Tracking and Surveillance System, Block 06. Delta 2 heavy, 2007 - 2 satellites. Cancelled 99 but resurrected 04. Formerly SBIRS-Low. MDA manages the program, AFSPC and Northrop Grumman will operate it from Schriever AFB.

Possibly T310 bus. Both satellites on a single launch.

STSS 1 and 2 were designated USA 208 and 209 after launch. They are also called STSS-D. The satellites were built by Northrop Grumman for the US Missile Defense Agency and will monitor missile flights using infrared sensors. Mass of the spacecraft is around 1000 kg each and they are in a 1350 x 1350 km x 58 deg orbit.

Demonstrate advanced tech for missile defense missions using Raytheon-SAS/El Segundo IR payloads.

Box + 2 panels? Around 2 x 1 x 1m with 9?m span. Stacked directly on each other for launch on top of an 'orbit insertion stage' payload attach fitting. Total mass 2244 kg including OIS. Guess OIS is 200 kg giving 1022 kg each for payload. box around 2 x 1.0 x 0.6m.

Orbit 1350 x 1350 x 58.
