Intelsat 28

Intelsat New Dawn was developed by New Dawn Satellite Co Ltd., a subsidiary of Intelsat S.A. (UK) which is a joint venture between Intelsat and Convergence Partners of Johannesburg, South Africa, and registered in Mauritius. Convergence pulled out in Oct 2012 leaving Intelsat as the sole owner of New Dawn; it was renamed Intelsat 28.

Orbital Star 2, Mass 3000 kg launch 1283 kg dry, 4.9 x 2.5 x 3.1m with 25.6m span

Stationed at 32.8E for Africa coverage.

The C-band antenna failed to deploy but the Ku-band system was brought into service despite also having deployment problems.
