Kosmos 8

The DS-K-8 No. 1 payload was primarily an ELINT technology satellite. It carried a publicly acknowledged payload for studying micrometeorites. It also studied electron density and the upper atmosphere. It was launched as Kosmos-8 in Aug 1962 and operated for 5 days until the thermal regulation system failed.
