GMS 4 (Himawari 4) was launched by H-I from Tanageshima. Mass was 325 kg BOL after adapter separation. 3.4 high, 2.2 dia. Launch mass around 725 kg, AKM propellant 338 kg and hydrazine capacity 41 kg.
Stage 2 was intended to be marginally suborbital with an expected splash down at 1S 143W. GMS 4 was lighter than other H-I payloads and the launch vehicle had only 6 strapon boosters instead of the usual 9.
