SES-2 and SES-3 are Orbital Star 2-4. Former AMC 1R.

SES Americom comms with USAF 3Girs (AIRSS) infrared sensor, a backup alternative to SBIRS, built by SAIC. The sensor flies as part of the Commerically Hosted IR Payload Flight Demo Program (CHIRP).

The spacecraft was procured by SES Satellite Leasing (UK) and operated by SES World Skies/Princeton; it was registered with the UN by the United States.
